Beta 2: Thanks for testing out this beta version. PM AndraX2000 in game with any comments or bug reports. Thank you.
You'll notice that this calculator is very similar to eGobba's calculator. The main diffenerence is that eGobba's calculator always trys to minimize the actual currency amount spent, while this calculator attempts to maximize the wellness gain per unit of currency. This approach leads the calculators to give slighlty different results, especially in the high wellness areas.
For example, let's say you have a high current wellness of 95. You have no house, and you wish to go up to 98. eGobba's tool tells you to buy Q2 food and two Q1 gifts for a total of $8.17. You gain 3.1 wellness. This tool tells you to buy Q1 food + 3 Q1 gifts for $8.83. You gain 3.55 wellness.
| Purchase | Wellness points | Dollars | Cost per wellness point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q2 food, 2 Q1 Gifts | 3.10 | $8.17 | $2.63 |
| Q1 food, 3 Q1 Gifts | 3.55 | $8.83 | $2.49 |
As you can see from the table, although you are paying more using this calulator's method, your price per wellness point is lower. It's similar to buying paper towels in bulk at a warehouse store -- you paid more up front, but you paid less per roll.
Thank you to eGobba and One Eye for inspiring this calculator. eGobba's calculator is superior for when you need to pay the absolute minimum today, or you want the wellness gain to be as close to the target as possible (perhaps you are trying to get it up just far enough so that a hospital gets you to 100 without waste). One Eye maintains a thread that lets you see the wellness thresholds for gift vs food. The above example is from that thread and is what inspired this calculator.
